Self-Assessment: Growth as a Writer
At the start of the course I struggled with writing organized essays. I often had ideas. I did not know how to structure the ideas or connect the ideas in a way that made sense to the reader. My paragraphs sometimes confused me. I did not pay attention to transitions thesis statements or revisions. Because of this I lacked confidence, in my writing. I felt unsure, about my abilities.
Over time I have seen an improvement, in my writing skills. By practicing, getting feedback and revising my work I learned to organize my thoughts and to build paragraphs. My writing skills feel stronger now. I feel proud of the progress. I now see that planning the essay matters. I now see that writing a clear thesis matters. I now see that supporting the thesis, with evidence matters. Revising the writing has helped me spot mistakes. To raise the clarity of the writing of handing in a first draft.
Now, I feel much more confident as a writer. I am able to express my ideas more effectively and write essays that are organized and focused. Looking back, I can clearly see how much I have grown, and I know that the skills I have learned will help me in future classes and beyond. This course has helped me realize that writing is a skill that improves with effort and practice, and I am proud of the progress I have made.
